Google Home Hub Spotify Sonos integration Sonos Community

These aren't huge nitpicks in the grand scheme of things, but they're worth noting. I have a Home Mini and don’t ever want to use it for music playback. I connected the chrome cast audio to the Sonos using the RCA male audio cable.

Being able to integrate my Sonos stuff with my Google stuff would really make me happier, and probably buy a Sonos AMP... When are we going to get Sonos integration on Google Home and Google Home hub? I can officially get rid of Alexa when this happens. I would like to know before I buy two new Sonos One to make my surround setup compatible, if it will work with apple HomeKit or not? If not, are there any way to make it work correctly? For example keeping my play 1s in the surround and buying 1 Sonos One to get AirPlay to work? I’m very confused and cannot figure out the correct way to make this work.

You'll then see a list of compatible speakers by location. Choose a speaker and then select Add Google Assistant. If given a choice between Standard or Boost setup, select Standard. All things considered, it's just nice to finally have native integration between Google and Sonos.

Use the Google Assistant with your Sonos speaker

You can also choose to have a Sonos speaker as the default playback device from your Nest Hub, Google Home and other Assistant devices. After the Google Assistant has been set up, you’ll be given some sample commands to test with Sonos to make sure it’s working properly. You can also select a default speaker so content always plays in a specific room without saying the room name in the command. To play music to Sonos using the Google Assistant, you’ll need to add the same music service account to both the Google Assistant and Sonos.

As a result, you can either play music on your Sonos device or any Nest device but not both simultaneously. Unfortunately, they are competing multiroom systems, and this likely won’t change anytime soon. This means a Google Home device can handle all the advanced smart home control features, but you can also tell it to play music through your other Sonos speakers and products. So if you choose the Google Assistant integration with a supported Sonos device, you’re limited to Google Play Music, Spotify, YouTube Music, Pandora, and Deezer. Sonos says you can also control music from TIDAL, TuneIn, and iHeartRadio with the Google Assistant on Sonos but these can’t be added to the Google Assistant app.

The best smart home security alarm systems

After establishing such a connection, you’ll be able to use the Assistant to play, pause, skip, adjust volume of music and more on your Sonos. Once set up using the steps above, you’re able to use any of your voice-enabled Sonos devices to control any of your smart home accessories. Of course, you would still have to say “Hey, Google," but this would allow you to eliminate the need for a Nest Hub or Nest Hub Mini. Even though Google and Sonos went through litigation battles in the past, you’re still able to connect your speakers to Google’s smart display.

I suspect, as a result, none of these can be set as the default music player. The Google Home can only send music to the Chomecast Audio that is linked to the Google Home app on your mobile device. You can link the app to your Pandora account and send music to your Sonos using only your voice. You can only send music from YouTube if you have a YouTube Red subscription. When you have multiple services connected, you tell the Google Home which service you want it to play music from when you speak to it.

To set this up go to your Google Assistant device in the Google Home app and choose Device settings . While you can't have Alexa and Google Assistant running simultaneously, it's easy to switch between the two leading smart home voice assistants. I would love if Sonos allowed me to use them in my home security. I have speakers everywhere it would be an awesome feature if the microphone could detect glass breaking and sound an alarm through the speaker. I have Sonos that work with Google Assistant. I believe you have to tell assistant to play the music on the name of the device.

If you’re wondering if it’s possible to controlSonos speakers and componentswith just your voice and a Google Home, it is! This article points out all of the Sonos products that are compatible, shows you exactly what you need to get it working, and clearly explains how to do everything. Next, you need to link your Google Assistant-packing device to your Yonomi account from within the Google Home app. Click 'Home control', click the '+' sign at the bottom-right and then select Yonomi from the list. All existing Routines will be available, so it’s not just Sonos controls you can work with.

How to connect Google Home to Sonos speakers

But, first up, we're going to focus on getting Google's Assistant live on the enabled speakers. Please address your sonos intergration with Google Home. Share and talk about Works with Sonos, our Sonos API, and other smart home integration.

I think it really has to do with not being left out when consumers are making purchase decisions on their speakers. After a year-and-a-half of waiting, Sonos officially supports the Google Assistant. I’m not sure what level setting to recommend. Just do a little experimentation and trust your ears. Leave it at the setting that sounds best to you.

You're going to have to choose your champion, as you can't mix and match assistants across your Sonos speakers in the home and have them intertwine smoothly. It's too bad that a company as big and experienced as Sonos with music streaming and a company as big as Google can't figure out this integration more quickly. I am sincerely disappointed to be honest. As much as I like google home, Sonos is just better.

We'll send you an e-mail with instructions to reset your password. Then read a tip online and asked GH to “Sync devices” (I’m running Swedish on my system and tried the translation “synkronisera enheter”). Download the Google Assistant app to your mobile device.

I got online with Google and their solution was to reboot the cable modem and restart Chromecast Audio. That worked for about 10 minutes and the stuttering began again. It’s inconsistent… sometimes it’ll play for 20 minutes with only minor glitches, sometimes the dropouts start immediately. There is a chance that in the future you may be able to send audio to Sonos using voice commands and Google Home, without needing Chromecast Audio devices. However, plans to develop this integration have not been shared publicly by either Google or Sonos at this time.
